2021 RAV4 vs. 2021 Cherokee: Powertrains
All versions of the 2021 Toyota RAV4 come standard with the same powertrain. It's a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and either front- or all-wheel drive. It delivers 203 hp and a towing capacity of 680 kg (1,500 lbs).
In keeping with Jeep's tradition of freedom, the 2021 Cherokee showcased at Excellence Chrysler St-Eustache, near Blainville and St-Jerome, offers a choice of 3 powertrains. The Sport and North versions come standard with a 2.4L Tigershark MultiAir engine, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and 4x2 or 4x4 traction. This powertrain provides a towing capacity of 907 kg (2,000 lbs), which is higher than all RAV4 models except for the RAV4 Trail, which has a towing capacity of 1,588 kg (3,500 lbs).
The Cherokee Altitude, Trailhawk and Limited versions come standard with a 3.2L Pentastar V6 engine, a 9-speed automatic transmission and 4x4 traction. This powertrain delivers 271 hp, 239 lb-ft of torque and a towing capacity of 4,500 lbs. Lastly, the Altitude and Limited versions can be equipped with the 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which delivers 270 hp, 295 lb-ft of torque and 1,800 kg (4,000 lbs) of towing capacity.
